One day isn’t long enough, so we did a whole weekend! We themed our wedding around our Apple Orchard in memory of Ash’s mother and our love for cider.
We only ever had one place in mind. The field beside House on the Brooks, beside the river with plenty of space for lots of marquees, cars and glamping. Ash had 3 best men and 9 ushers, I had 3 maids of honours and 8 bridesmaids. My stunning dress was chosen out by Catherine from Catherine Francis, I would highly recommend her and her team in Arundel!
We got married in our village Church in Poling, then headed back to our field for a toast of homebrew cyder and elderflower champagne to Ash’s mum. On the way to our reception we took the classic cars for a drive around Arundel High Street, and stopped off for a quick photo at Jubilee Gardens where we met.
I love making crafts, so I handmade all our favours, name places and other table décor. We had 2 stunning pole tents by Ash’s business Tents N Events, decorated with the help of a few friends with the ideas from my business The Beautiful day. We themed our ‘dining tent’ with trees and a foliage canopy and bright paper lanterns in the ‘dance tent’. Our tables were named after apple trees, with a real apple tree as our table plan.
We felt that food at a wedding is one of the most memorable parts of the day for you and your guests and we love the feel of a ‘sharing plates’, we didn’t want a formal 3-course meal for 150 people in a field! So, we chose a scrummy picnic menu with Carole from The Naked Food Company with a trio of our favourite desserts to finish off. For the evening, we had a mouth-watering hog roast with roasted veg from West Sussex Hog Roast. Needless to say, it was incredibly popular, because all that was left when we got there was crackling! We had some other fab foodie friends on the Saturday serving some posh kebabs and fish ‘n’ chips, Vice Puddings, and Mrs Whippy from Pink’s Vintage whipped up lots of ice creams and sweets for our family fun Saturday.
The Red Lion in Arundel provided a unique Boat bar! Served by the pirates themselves, I think it was almost drunk it dry. We brought in a good friend to install a full stage setup with top quality lighting, lasers, smoke machine and sound equipment. We found ourselves dancing the whole weekend on the dancefloor, because we chose the best bands around (in our opinion!). I had been rehearsing with iolar to sing on stage on Saturday, Ash’s mum’s favourite song The White Hare by Seth Lakeman, as a surprise for her friends and Ash. We cut our wedding cake on Saturday, which was a masterpiece produced by Kass, it was a stunning tree stump finished off with creatures and leaves!
We had plenty of garden games, bouncy castles and Olde English Games including welly wanging and egg toss for all ages on the Saturday.
I don’t think we could have asked for much more!!
